MONDAY PICK | St. Kate’s hosts a reading-optional book club

The inconvenient thing about book clubs is that you have to read the books—and these days, who has time for that? Actually, never mind these days—who had time for that even in 1965? That’s when St. Kate’s inaugurated its annual Conversation with Books series, convening “a lively panel of book lovers that highlight recent books of literary merit.” The discussion is meant not to examine books the attendees have already read, but rather to highlight interesting books that readers might consider picking up in the future—whether for book clubs or solo. Tonight’s 48th annual conversation features Catherine Lupori, professor emerita of English, and two other bookish alumnae. Tickets are $25, or $55 if you want to settle your stomach beforehand in the President’s Dining Room.
